WOMANKIND RECEIVES AVON GRANT

The Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund has awarded a $40,000 one-year grant to WomanKind to increase awareness of the life-saving benefits of early detection of breast cancer. It is the first year that the agency has received Avon Foundation funding to support its work on this important health issue.

The WomanKind Avon Breast Health Program will increase outreach, education and screening activities to the underserved women in our community. WomanKind will provide clinical breast exams at our medical office on Northside Drive. Additionally, thanks to generous funding from the Zonta Club of Key West, WomanKind will refer qualified, uninsured women for free mammograms at Lower Keys Medical Center.

“We are proud that the Avon Foundation shares our mission and has chosen to support our program. With these funds we will be able to increase the number of low-income, uninsured women receiving crucial breast cancer screenings” says Betsy Langan, MSW, Executive Director of WomanKind.
